West Indies: West Indies made 150 runs in its first innings of the first Test against India in Windsor Park Sports Stadium, Dominica. Indian team sent all the batsmen of the host team back to the pavilion and trailed them by 70 runs at Stumps.

While remaining unbeaten, India ended Day 1 of the test series of WI vs IND at 80 runs without any loss. The bowlers such as Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja took five and three wickets of the West Indies players, respectively.

The toss was won by West Indies, and skipper Kraigg Brathwaite opted to bat first. Alick Athanaze of West Indies gave a good fight of 47 runs, while other batters were bundled out by Indian bowlers. As per the details of the match, Aswin departed Warrican for one run.

He goes onto the back foot and glances in the air, which is caught by Shubhman Gill. A five-fer for Ashwin with figures of 60/5, averaging 2.4 runs an over. According to WinViz, West Indies’ chances of winning the game were reached at 11% while India was rated as an 89% chance, and the draw chance stood at 0%.

As per the scoreboard, Alick Athanaze scored 47 runs in 99 balls. The left-hander hit six boundaries and one maximum. He was further knocked out by Shardul Thakur of India as he was about to hit his first test series half-century. Dominican turned out to be the only player for giving a tough fight to the Indian team. 

On the other hand, the second-highest scorer for West Indies was skipper KC Brathwaite, as he made 20 off 46 balls, including three boundaries. 

Further, R Ashwin took five wickets and completed his 700 wickets in the international matches. Along with that, Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets getting 26 runs. 

The match will resume on Thursday (July 13, 2023). The first match of the test series will be concluded on July 16, 2023. The second test match will be held at Queen‘s Park Oval, Trinidad. The India men’s tour of West Indies will be ended on August 13, 2023.
