Castries, Saint Lucia: The Daren Ganga’s Cricket Academy 2023 Cricket tour of Saint Lucia ended on Friday September 1 with a loss to the Northern Cluster Grassroots Representative Team (Under 17 age group) at the Gros Islet Playing Field.

The Daren Ganga’s Cricket Academy batting first after winning the toss in 25 over a side game was dismissed for 85 in 23.2 overs with Nityum Mongru making 28, Fareed Bann 15 not out and Aidan Bodeo 11.

The wicket takers for the Northern Cluster Representative Team were, Leon Alexander with 3 for 4 in 4 overs, Sherlawn Daniel 2 for 2 in 2 overs and 1 wicket to Aiden Scholar.

In reply the Northern Cluster Grassroots boys made light work of the target, finishing on 86 for 2 in 9.3 overs with Kanil Nelson remaining on 36 not out and Roystan Fannis making 26.

The only wicket taker for the visitors was Jayden Sahadeo with 2 for 37 in 4.3 overs.

RESULT: THE NORTHERN CLUSTER GRASSROOTS UNDER 17 REPRESENTATIVE TEAM DEFEATED THE DAREN GANGA CRICKET ACADEMY UNDER 17’S BY 8 WICKETS.

As is customary during the Annual Northern Cluster Grassroots Cricket Programme/Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Cricket Summer Camp continued its Social Responsibility with a Charitable Donation.

On Thursday, August 31, camp participants visited a very gratefulTimothy Delfus; former Gros Islet Cricketer, Coach, Umpire, Administrator and Selector who was the recipient of hampers comprising of food items and monetary contribution.

Delfus spoke to the young campers, stressing on the importance of being obedient to their coaches.

The curtains came down on a very successful and enjoyable 2023 Northern Cluster Grassroots Programme/Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Cricket Summer Camp with a Sleepover, on Wednesday/ Thursday (August 30/31) at the Beausejour Indoor Facility.

The highlight of the sleep over was a ‘Talent Show’ in which camp participants displayed their all round talents.

The overall winners who collected a monetary prize were Zidane Wilson and Henry Joseph who rocked the gathering with their captivating free-style singing and dancing.

This, the 6th Annual Summer Cricket Programme hosted by The Northern Cluster Grassroots Cricket Programme, commenced on July 25 and concluded on August 31, 2023.
