Cuba, Argentina hosted virtual Business Seminar

The entrepreneurs and various officials from Argentina and Cuba participated in a virtual Business seminar. They signified their desire to strengthen economic and commercial ties and achieve strategic partnerships in different regions.

Ruben Ramos, – the vice president of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce, underlined that “Institutions and organizations of both nations showed their interest in promoting goods and services in different fields, and among the main challenges is to achieve partnerships that strengthen the role and level of services to be offered.”

The vice-president further added, “Foreign investment is necessary for the economy of his nation, which does not run to develop through sustainable projects notwithstanding being subjected to the US severe economic, commercial and financial siege, tightened even amid the covid-19 pandemic.”

Following the statement, he further noted both the countries are committed to providing cooperation and complementarity in times of crisis. An example of this was the recent visit to Havana of Argentina’s Minister of Health, Carla Vizzotti, who, among other issues, addressed the possibility of jointly producing Cuban vaccines.

“The establishment of science and innovation is turning into a requirement, such is the case of the biopharmaceutical sector, which generates products aimed at fighting diseases such as cancer, diabetic foot ulcers and now the development of five vaccine candidates against COVID-19.”

Argentina and Cuba share a common history as both nations were once part of the Spanish Empire. The diplomatic relations between Argentina and Cuba were established on 12 May in the year 1909.

The main export of Argentina to Cuba are mainly food-based items, while Cuban exports to Argentina are mainly the pharmaceutical stocks and medicine.

Both the nations are members of the Community of Latin American and the Caribbean States, of Latin American Integration Association, organization of American States, and the Ibero-American States organization.
