Patricia Scotland-the Secretary General of the Commonwealth, welcomed the appointment of Paul Andrew Gomez as the High Commissioner for The Bahamas on Tuesday morning. On his Facebook post, she shared glimpses and expressed her pleasure.
CSG Scotland said, “Delighted to welcome the new High Commissioner for The Bahamas, HE Paul Andrew Gomez, this morning.” The meeting featured a discussion on the 50th anniversary of The Bahamas Independence, digital education and the upliftment of Small states.
The High Commissioner and CSG Scotland discussed the upcoming 50th Anniversary of The Bahamas Independence in July and the Commonwealth Women’s Affairs Ministers Meeting (WAMM) in August.
During their meeting, she also highlighted The Commonwealth programmes and areas of focus, including the Connectivity Agenda, using AI to increase trade and investment in Small States, debt management, and digital education for youth through Commonwealth and Simplilearn initiatives.
Along with that, CSG Patricia Scotland also shared glimpses of her meeting with the President of The Commonwealth Lawyers Association, Dr Peter D Maynard KC and his delegation. The meeting was held at Marlborough House today.
While expressing delight, the Secretary-General said that she is pleased to meet with the President of The Commonwealth Lawyers Association, Dr Peter D Maynard KC, and his delegation at Marlborough House today.
The meeting also shed light on ways to deepen relations between the countries of the Commonwealth and uplift the citizens of the small states. She also highlighted several areas to advance the collaboration between the member states, such as election observation, the use of AI and framework legislation for digital assets.
CSG said, “We discussed the areas in which to deepen collaboration for citizens within member states, especially for small states, across the Commonwealth.”
The areas of collaboration also included the development of model framework contracts, election observation and the whole election cycle approach to elections, the use of AI & framework legislation for digital assets & the use of sport for peace initiatives Peace at the Crease.
