Patricia Scotland expressed huge pleasure in visiting the country and interacting with different leaders as she presented her vision for her top position as the election will be held for the position in Rwanda in June.

Castries, St Lucia: Patricia Scotland QC- sixth and first lady Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, who is currently on her official tour to various Caribbean regions, visited St Lucia on Saturday, May 28, 2022. 

Patricia Scotland expressed huge pleasure in visiting the country and interacting with different leaders as she presented her vision for her top position as the election will be held for the position in Rwanda in June. 

Elections to fill the post will be held during the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in Kigali, Rwanda, in June.

In St Lucia, she met Minister for Education, Sustainable Development, Innovation, Science, Technology & Vocational Training Shawn Edward and his Parliamentary Secretary Dr Pauline Antoine-Prospere and Minister for Youth Development and Sports Kenson Casimir. 

Through her social post via Twitter, Patricia Scotland outlined, “While in Saint Lucia, I called on the Minister for Education, Sustainable Development, Innovation, Science, Technology & Vocational Training, Hon 

Shawn Edward, his Parliamentary Secretary Dr Pauline Antoine-Prospere and Minister for Youth Development & Sports Hon Kenson Casimir.” 

She further stated that Minister Edward praised her leadership for the position of the Commonwealth and hailed the step called Climate Finance Access Hub for assisting the government in mobilizing US$2 million to date for Climate Action. 

Scotland asserted, “Minister Edward hailed the #Commonwealth Climate Finance Access Hub for assisting the government in mobilizing US$2 million to date for #Climate Action.” 

She further stressed that In total, Commonwealth CFAH had helped Small States access nearly $50 million, with $762 million worth of projects in the pipeline.

Patricia stated that she had given every update about the work of the Commonwealth Secretary of Youth and Sports for Development and Peace Programmes. She emphasized that she always looks forward to the upliftment of St Lucia and its people. 

She said, “I updated Minister Casimir on the work of our Com Sec Youth and #Sports for Development and Peace programmes. I look forward to seeing him as well as the Saint Lucia flag flying high at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games this summer.”

Patricia Scotland also wished luck to St Lucia for the upcoming Commonwealth Games at Birmingham.Â
