Secretary-General of the Commonwealth- Patricia Scotland expressed pleasure in meeting with the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern, and the Prime Minister of Samoa- Fiame Naomi Mata’afa, during the 2022 Pacific Islands Forum. 

While discussing major concerns, CSG Patricia Scotland stated that the major focus of the meeting was the complex regional and global challenges

She further applauded these women leaders and said that they are leading their countries with their efficient and re-emerging skills. 

CSG Patricia Scotland took to Twitter and tweeted, “I am absolutely proud of and inspired by my fellow women leaders, New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern and Samoa PM Fiame Naomi Mata’afa, leading their countries in the face of complex regional and global challenges.” 

Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata’afa will chair #CHOGM2024 in Samoa.

Patricia Scotland expressed pleasure to attend the wrap-up of Grand Pacific as PIFS2022 and PIFLM51. She was also pleased to spend time with Fiji Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama and Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese.

She underscored, “Brilliant Pacific mood tonight at the Grand Pacific as PIFS2022, PIFLM51 wraps up. Pleased to spend time with Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama and Australia’s PM Anthony Albanese.” 

CSG Patricia Scotland was also grateful for their vital support for The Commonwealth work programmes, which fully align with the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent.

She expressed pleasure in speaking with President Taneti Maamau of Kiribati on the phone and reaffirmed their full support for Kiribati as a valued member of the Commonwealth and the Pacific family. 

“I was delighted to speak with President Taneti Maamau of #Kiribati on the phone today and reaffirmed our full support for Kiribati as a valued member of the #Commonwealth & #Pacific family,” underlined Patricia Scotland. 

She stated that the Commonwealth is looking forward to further collaboration, including on Ocean Action under the Blue Charter. 

Further, the President of the United States- Kamala Harris, virtually attended the Pacific Islands Forum 2022 and outlined that the United States always stand by the Pacific.
