On Friday, June 10, 2022, Patricia Scotland interacted with the group and talked about the advancement of trade and investment in the East Africa region.

Caribbean: Patricia Scotland- sixth and first Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, conducted talks with the Eastern Africa Association business group on the matters related to strengthening the trade and investment in Commonwealth. 

On Friday, June 10, 2022, Patricia Scotland interacted with the group and talked about the advancement of trade and investment in the East Africa region. 

She affirmed that the Commonwealth will always remain committed to uplifting the business and people of East Africa to thrive and unleash their full potential. 

Patricia Scotland expressed pleasure while noting, “Great evening speaking to the Eastern Africa Association business group about strengthening Commonwealth Trade and investment.” 

Stressing upon the commitment of the Commonwealth towards their region, she asserted that she reaffirmed the steadfast commitment of the Commonwealth to supporting governments, businesses and people of East Africa to thrive and unleash their full potential.

Patricia Scotland further applauded the East Africa region and exclaimed that she is very happy that the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting will be held in Rwanda later this month. 

She also emphasized that the Business Forum will provide an opportunity for the United Kingdom and regional investors to deepen and strengthen further relations. CSG added,” East Africa is a region close to my heart. So I’m delighted that CHOGM2022 will take place in Rwanda in a few days.” 

Patricia Scotland assured that with trade high on the agenda, the Business Forum would provide an opportunity for the UK and regional investors to deepen ties and identify new opportunities

Meanwhile, she also expressed gratitude to The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall for their decision to attend the CHOGM 2022 in Kigali to fill the post of the Commonwealth. 

She said, “Deeply honoured that HRH The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will attend CHOGM 2022 in Kigali later this month. It will be a fantastic opportunity for the #Commonwealth family to finally come together since our last meeting four years ago.” 

In addition, The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, through their social media, revealed that they would also attend the CHOGM 2022. 

He noted, “My wife and I much look forward to meeting Commonwealth leaders and, for the first time, being able to visit Rwanda.”
