Patricia Scotland- the Secretary General of the Commonwealth met with Britain Minister of State (Development and Africa) Andrew Mitchell MP in the margins of the Africa Climate Summit in Nairobi.

Patricia Scotland– the Secretary General of the Commonwealth met with Britain Minister of State (Development and Africa) Andrew Mitchell MP in the margins of the Africa Climate Summit in Nairobi. The meeting was held on Thursday morning.

The meeting has revolved around the range of Commonwealth issues such as power, energy and climate change. Both the leaders have shared their ideas in developing state countries of the Commonwealth. She also expressed pleasure to be back in Nairobi and participated in the Summit.

CSG Patricia Scotland said that such summit helped them to enhance their approach toward several issues. The peach and security were also touched during their meeting. They shared their ideas to enhance the peace and stability in the Commonwealth nations.

She took to Twitter and said that she is leased to meet with UK Minister of State (Development and Africa)- Andrew Mitchell MP in the margins of the Africa Climate State in Nairobi. “We discussed a range of Commonwealth issues related to climate, development, cooperation, peace and security in the region, ”said the CSG.

Patricia Scotland also participated in series of diplomatic meetings in the summit. She said that she is looking to more dialogue and action in NY at Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting (CFAMM) alongside UNGA 78. The United Kingdom will also join other member states for the 1st Commonwealth Environment and Climate Ministers’ Meeting (CECCM ) the same week.

CSG Scotland also addressed the forum and said that the in Africa Ocean Economy generates US$300 billion/year, supporting 50 million jobs. By 2030, this could be US$405 billion/year & 57 million jobs. She also highlighted climate change issues and ways to mitigate the issue so that Earth could become a healthy place to live.

She also touched Sustainable Ocean management during the summit and said that the blue economy should also be given importance.

“In Africa, the Ocean Economy generates US$300 billion/year, supporting 50 million jobs. By 2030, this could be US$405 billion/year & 57 million jobs. Sustainable ocean management is vital. Find out how the Commonwealth Blue Charter supports Blue Economy, ”said the Secretary General of the Commonwealth.

CSG Patricia Scotland also expressed pleasure to take part in a high-level panel at Africa Climate Summit with President of Somalia- Hassan S Mohamud.

She said,”Honoured to take part in a high-level panel at Africa Climate Summit, with President Hassan S Mohamud of Somalia, President F Nyusi of Mozambique and Vice President Francia Marquez M of Colombia, on unlocking the potential of a regenerative blue economy.”

Africa Climate Summit 2023

CSG Patricia Scotland attended the Africa Climate Summit 2023 in Nairobi and took part in series of meetings. The agenda of the summit was analyzing the ways of mitigating climate change and strengthen the sustainable agendas of the Commonwealth nations.
