Caribbean: Patricia Scotland- sixth and first lady Secretary General of the Commonwealth, who was on the official tour to the various countries of the Caribbean region, landed in Antigua and Barbuda on June 30, 2022.
She interacted with various political leaders of Antigua and Barbuda and promoted herself to the position of the Commonwealth Secretary General.
Patricia Scotland firstly met with Prime Minister Gaston Browne and discussed various matters of concern to strengthen the Commonwealth word. The discussion featured various topics such as financial inclusion, MSMEs and Digital Transformation.
She expressed, “Delighted to meet again with The Hon. Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda. We held refreshing discussions about scaling up our The Commonwealth work around financial inclusion, MSMEs and building a ‘Smart #Commonwealth’ through Digital Transformation #Innovation.”
Patricia Scotland outlined that Prime Minister acknowledged the impact of our #Commonwealth flagship initiatives over the past six years, including #Connectivity Agenda #Blue Charter #Commonwealth CFAH (#Climate Finance) and confirmed his full support for my vision of a Smart, Resilient Commonwealth for the future.

CSG Patricia Scotland also addressed the first ever Commonwealth Data Science and Innovation Workshop for the Caribbean, which is co-organised with the government of Antigua and Barbuda.

Patricia Scotland welcomed the robust support from the Minister of Works and the Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance and Corporate Governance, Hon Lennox Weston, who urged #Commonwealth and #Caribbean member countries to work in unison to tackle inequalities and achieve the #SDGs.
She added, “I also enjoyed the presentations by our partners. Dr Samira Asma World Health Organization (WHO) and Riad Meddeb United Nations Development Programme – UNDP.”
This was an excellent precursor for next month's Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting #CHOGM2022 in Rwanda, with the theme ‘Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming' @ABHCUK @CHOGM2022
