Caribbean: Patricia Scotland QC- sixth and first lady Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, who was currently on her official to various Caribbean countries have, wraped up and concluded her visit to the region on Tuesday, May 31, 2022.
On the last day of her visit to the Caribbean region, she called on the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus. It is a vibrant institution that is working and collaborating with the government of Antigua and Barbuda and the association of the commonwealth universities, the commonwealth and others to establish a regional centre of excellence for Oceanography and the Blue Economy.
While expressing pleasure to be here in the Caribbean region, Patricia Scotland noted, “To wrap up my visit to the #Caribbean, I called on the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus – a vibrant institution that is working with the Antigua and Barbuda Government, The Association of Commonwealth Universities, The Commonwealth and others to establish a regional Centre of Excellence for #Oceanography and the #Blue Economy.”
During her visit, she also conducted an interactive meeting with Pro Vice-Chancellor and Campus Principal Prof Densil Williams and his team.

Patricia Scotland outlined that she explores various opportunities in matters of concern such as partnerships, financing and innovative solutions, leveraging Data Science and their Commonwealth networks.

Patricia Scotland visited various Caribbean islands to promote herself for the position of the Secretary-General of Commonwealth. Various countries, such as St Lucia, St Kitts and Nevis and Antigua and Barbuda and interacted with the leaders of the countries.
She interacted with Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, Dr Timothy Harris, Gaston Browne, and Philip J Pierre, where she promoted herself and shared her re-energizing vision for the top position.
Patricia Scotland expressed huge pleasure in visiting the country and interacting with different leaders as she presented her vision for her top position as the election will be held for the position in Rwanda in June.
Elections to fill the post will be held during the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in Kigali, Rwanda, in June.
