Cricket: The Windwards Under-19 Male Rising Stars Cricket Tournament will be kicked in St Vincent from July 4 to August 1, 2023. The competition will feature the respective territories across the West Indies with tons of young future stars representing their respective countries in what is anticipated to be a high-level competition.

The Windwards Under-19 Male Squad assembled in St. Vincent for a mini-camp ahead of the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Rising Stars U19 Tournament scheduled for July 4 -August 1, 2023 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

In an unprecedented move at this level, the Windward Islands Cricket Board (WICB) named two captains for the two format tournament.

West Indies Under-19 Captain Akeem Auguste will lead the team in the three day red ball tournament scheduled from July 15 to August 1 while Stephan Pascal, who led the Windwards Team to the CWI U17 title in Trinidad and Tobago in 2022, leads the white ball team.

The 50 over white ball tournament runs from July 4 to July 15 with the Windwards taking on the Leeward Islands at Arnos Vale on Tuesday from 9:30 am.

The squad was struck a major blow when highly rated fast bowler Solomon Bascombe was ruled out of the tournament with a finger injury.

The Guyana Under-19 team winged out this morning (July 2) ahead of the upcoming Cricket West Indies (CWI) Rising Stars Boys Under-19 tournament.Skipper Marvindra Dindyal will lead a strong team featuring a bevy of stars.

The tournament bowls off in St. Vincent from July 4- Aug 1 while the team will return home on August 2.

Andre Percival, the former Guyana all-rounder will return as the team’s Head Coach while Nazeer Mohamed will serve as the Manager.Among the talents who performed well last year, stars such as, Rampertab Ramnauth, Dindyal, West Indies under-19 pacer Isai Thorne and Guyana’s leading run-scorer in last year’s tournament Shamar Yearwood are among the star-studded bunch as Guyana will enter the tournament as one of the favorites in the competition.

Zeynul Ramsammy, Aryan Persaud and Thaddeus Lovell are expected to lend good support in both the batting and bowling department.

Dindyal and his men will face the Jamaicans in the opening round on July 4, while Trinidad and Tobago will play Barbados, with Windwards Islands and Leewards Islands completing the opening round of games.
