Castries, Saint Lucia: St Mary’s College secured victory over Castries Comprehensive by 12 runs in the Saint Lucia 2023 Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Under 16, 40 Over Cricket Tournament.

Three centuries highlighted another round of matches on Monday, June 5, in the 2023 Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Under 16, 40 Over Cricket Tournament.

Centuries were registered by the Windward Islands Under 15 Players; JOHNATHAN DANIEL and LEON ALEXANDER. KANIL NELSON was the other century maker.

Victories were recorded for St. Mary’s College and Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary. At the Monchy Playing Field, St. Mary’s College enjoyed a comfortable 122-run victory over Castries Comprehensive Secondary.

St. Mary’s College batting first, led by centuries from Johnathan Daniel and Kanil Nelson amassed 311 for 4 in their allotment of 40 overs. Johnathan Daniel hit a typical stroke-filled, attacking 141 in just 70 balls. His inning comprised of 8 fours and 13 sixes.

Kanil Nelson made 109 in 136 balls, his first career century. His knock included 12 fours and 5 sixes. The wicket takers for Castries Comprehensive were; Cayden Francois with figures of 2 for 47 in 7 overs and 1 wicket each to Daniel Lorde and Kaylum Thomas.

In reply, Castries Comprehensive was bowled out for 149 in 19.4 overs, with Kareem Francis top scoring with 30 and Linzie James 27. Doing the damage with the ball for SMC were; Keenan Joseph with 4 for 36 in 8 overs, Kanil Nelson; 3 for 36 in 7.2 overs, Aiden Daniel with 2 for 34 in 5 overs and Dante Eugene with 1 wicket.

RESULT: ST. MARY’S COLLEGE WON OVER CASTRIES COMPREHENSIVE BY 122 RUNS.

At the Gros Islet Playing Field, Leon Hess Comprehensive, led by a brilliant century by Leon Alexander, made a respectful 234 for 9 in their 32 allotted overs.

Leon Alexander’s attacking knock of 104 included 17 fours and 4 sixes. Other useful contributions came from Ahlil Cyril with 24, Aaron St. Clair 19, Dajann Sammy 12 and Shadei St. Omer 11.

The wicket takers for Babonneau Secondary were Le Shaun Alphonse with 3 for 40 in 5 overs, Cleton Amedee 2 for 34 in 5 overs, Joshua Solomon 2 for 43 in 6 overs and 1 wicket to Cansius Simon.

In reply, Babonneau Secondary closed their innings on 80 for 9 in 14.3 overs, with Joshua Norley making 21 and Kyle Stephen 17. The wicket takers for Leon Hess Secondary were skipper; Aaron St. Clair with 4 for 15 in 3.3 overs, Leon Alexander 4 for 41 in 6 overs and 1 wicket to Bjorn Fanis.

RESULT: LEON HESS COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY DEFEATED BABONNEAU SECONDARY BY 154 RUNS.
