Castries, Saint Lucia: St Mary’s College secured victory over Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary and Castries Comprehensive Secondary over Babonneau Secondary in 2023 Saint Lucia Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Schools Under 16, 40 Over Cricket Tournament. 

The 2023 Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Schools Under 16, 40 Over Cricket Tournament continued on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 with two more matches.

At the Gros Islet Playing Field in a low scoring match, Leon Hess Comprehensive batting first were restricted to 106 all out in 20.5 overs with Leon Alexander making 47 and Aaron St Clair 29.

The wicket takers for St Mary’s College were, Kanil Nelson with 3 for 3 in 3 overs, Joshua Moise with 3 for 23 in 4.5 overs, Keenan Joseph 2 for 20 in 3 overs and 1 wicket each to Tyler Venner and Dante Eugene.

In reply, St Mary’s College led by a solid unbeaten half-century from Tyler Venner reached their target, finishing on 110 for 8 in 17.2 overs. Tyler Venner made a responsible 56 not out with 13 fours. Johanthan Daniel also chipped in with 13 for St Mary’s College.

Bowling for Leon Hess Comprehensive were Leon Alexander with 5 for 53 in 8 overs, Bjorn Fanis 2 for 30 in 5 overs and 1 wicket to Aaron St. Clair.

RESULTS: ST MARY’S COLLEGE DEFEATED LEON HESS COMPREHENSIVE BY 2 WICKETS.

At the Monchy Playing Field, Babonneau Secondary batting first was dismissed for 58 in 14 overs with Daivy Paul making 13. The wicket takers for Castries Comprehensive were, Linzie James with 4 for 26 in 5 overs, Kareem Francis 3 for 6 in 2 overs, Kaylum Thomas 2 for 13 in 5 overs and 1 wicket to Caden Francois.

In reply, Castries Comprehensive Secondary comfortably got to their target finishing on 59 for 3 in 7.3 overs with Daniel Lorde, Kareem Francis and Kaylum Thomas making 9 each. The wicket takers for Babonneau Secondary were, Cansicus Simon and Joshua Solomon with 1 wicket each.

RESULT: CASTRIES COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY DEFEATED BABONNEAU SECONDARY BY 7 WICKETS.

Two more matches are carded for Friday, June 9 as the tournament continues. The Saint Lucia Sports Academy comes up against Babonneau Secondary at the Gros Islet Playing Field and Corinth Secondary plays Ciceron Secondary at the Monchy Playing Field.
