Castries, Saint Lucia: St Lucia Sports Academy secured victory against Babonneau Secondary in the 2023 Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Schools Under 16, 40 Over Cricket Tournament on Friday. 

The action in the 2023 Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Schools Under 16, 40 Over Cricket Tournament continued on Friday, June 9, with another round of matches.

Victories were recorded for the St Lucia Sports Academy over Babonneau Secondary and Ciceron Secondary over Corinth Secondary. At the Gros Islet Playing Field, the St Lucia Sports Academy totally outplayed Babonneau Secondary, winning by 10 wickets.

Babonneau Secondary batting first, was dismissed for 97 in 22.3 overs with Kyle Stephen making 28, Daisy Paul 13 and Cancius Simon 11.

The wicket takers for the St Lucia Sports Academy were, Zinnaki Louis with 3 for 22 in 4 overs, Theo Edward 2 for 32 in 7 overs and 1 wicket to Clint Dixon.

In reply, St Lucia Sports Academy led by a rapid unbeaten half century from Skipper Theo Edward easily got to their target finishing on 99 with out loss in just six overs.

Opening batsmen Theo Edward made a commanding 70 not out in only 21 balls and Zinnaki Louis 16 not out.

RESULT: THE ST LUCIA SPORTS ACADEMY DAFEATED BABONNEAU SECONDARY BY 10 WICKETS.

At the Monchy Playing Field, Ciceron Secondary picked up their first victory in the tournament this far, defeating their opponents by 7 wickets.

Corinth Secondary batting first, was bowled out for 57 in 19 overs with no batsman reaching double figures. Bowling for Ciceron Secondary, Lionel Davis 4 for 16 in 6 overs, Uryah Charlemagne 2 for 1 in 3 overs and 1 wicket each to Shealawn Daniel, Omari Joseph and Deterville Gustave.

Set a modest victory target of 58, Ciceron Secondary matched on to victory, finishing on 62 for 3 in 9.2 overs with Derville Gustsve making 17 not out, Shealawn Daniel 14 and Hayden James 11.

The wicket takers for Corinth Secondary were, Jaden Khodra, Jaheem Simeon and Royston Fanniscwith 1 wicket each.

RESULT: CICERON SECONDARY DEFEATED CORINTH SECONDARY BY 7 WICKETS.

Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary in a pre-semi-final round practice match organized by the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports played a combined school team on Friday, June 9 at the Piaye Playing Field.

Soufriere Comprehensive batting first was dismissed for 55 in 20.1 overs with Zephrini Henry making 17.

The wicket takers for the combined team were, Jessie Charlemagne with outstanding figures of 8 for 12 in 6.1 overs and Jeanille Williams with 2 for 6 in 5 overs.

In reply, the combined team led by Cleyanus Jules with 25 and Jermaine Thomas 18 comfortably reached their target finishing on 56 for 1 in 6 overs.

RESULT: COMBINED TEAM DEFEATED SOUFRIERE COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY BY 9 WICKETS.
