Castries, Saint Lucia: Saint Lucia Sports Academy secured victory against St Mary’s College and Corinth Secondary won against Babonneau Secondary on Tuesday in the 2023 Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Schools Under 16, 40 Over Cricket Tournament 

Victories were recorded for Saint Lucia Sports Academy over St. Mary’s College and Corinth Secondary over Babonneau Secondary. At the Gros Islet Playing Field, the Saint Lucia Sports Academy completed a comfortable 8wicket victory over St. Mary’s College.

St Mary’s College batting first after winning the toss, were dismissed for 91 in 20 overs with Johnathan Daniel making 23 and Kanil Nelson 22. The chief distroyer with the ball for the Saint Lucia Sports Academy was Windward Islands Under 15 captain Theo Edward with impressive figures of 6 for 15 in 7 overs.

Good support came from, Kaylan Hoppolyte with 2 for 6 in 2 overs and 1 wicket to Jequan Joseph. In reply, the Saint Lucia Sports Academy led by Skipper Theo Edward with a well played half century finished on 96 for 2 in 10.2 overs. Theo Edward continued his fine all-round performance with 50 not out inclusive of 8 fours and two sixes.

The wicket takers for St. Marys’ College were Dante Eugene and Reuben Reynolds with 1 wicket each.

RESULTS: SAINT LUCIA SPORTS ACADEMY DEFEATED ST. MARY’S COLLEGE BY 8 WICKETS.

At the lush green Monchy Playing Field, Corinth Secondary earned themselves a solid 176-run victory over Babonneau Secondary. Corinth Secondary batting first made 273 for 4 in 30 overs with Jaden Khodra top scoring with a hard fought 70 which included four fours and six sixes. 

Other useful contributions came from captain Jaheem Simeon with 35, Neil Poyotte 28, Cletus Antoine 26 not out and Royston Fannis 22. The wicket takers for Babonneau Secondary were Cleaton Amedee and Cansius Simon with 1 wicket each.

In reply, Babonneau Secondary chasing 274 for victory could only muster up 97 runs from their innings of 20.3 all out with Leshawn Alphonse top scoring with 42. The wicket takers for Corinth Secondary were Neil Poyotte with 4 for 10 in 5 overs, Jaheem Simeon 3 for 19 in 5 over and 1 wicket each to Jaden Khodra and Troy Prospere.

RESULT: CORINTH SECONDARY DEFEATED BABONNEAU SECONDARY BY 176 RUNS.
