The Saint Lucia National Cricket Association 2023, 50 Over Cricket Tournament continued on Saturday, June 17, with Gros Islet registering a comfortable 118 run victory over Babonneau at the Des Barras Playing Field.

Castries, Saint Lucia: The Saint Lucia National Cricket Association 2023, 50 Over Cricket Tournament continued on Saturday, June 17, with Gros Islet registering a comfortable 118 run victory over Babonneau at the Des Barras Playing Field.

Gros Islet, batting first, made 243 for 8 in their allotment of 36.4 overs, with Tyrel Chicot top scoring with a splendid half-century in Saint Lucia. Tyrel Chicot, batting with good composure, made 75 not out with nine fours and four sixes. Other useful scores came from Jard Goodman with 39, Tarrique Edward with 24, captain Kimani Melius with 20, Khan Elcock 16 and Ryan Goodman 11.

The wicket takers for Babonneau were, Zayee Antoine with 3 for 36 in 8.4 overs and one wicket each to Shervon Joseph, Johnnel Eugene, Caleb Thomas, Vishal Singh and Joshua Cepal.

In reply, Babonneau was bowled out for 125 in 21.4 overs, with Caleb Thomas making 33 and Johnnel Eugene 27. Doing the damage with the ball for Gros Islet were, 16 year old seam bowler Darvin Forde with 4 for 41 in 6 overs, Tarrique Edward 3 for 17 in 4 overs and Larry Edward 3 for 29 in 10 overs. 

The Northern Cluster Grassroots/ Ministry of Youth Development and Sports/ Gros Islet Community After-school Cricket Training continued on Friday, June 16, 2023, with yet another enjoyable Beach Recovery Session at the Reduit Beach.

The Northern Cluster Grassroots Cricket Program on behalf of National Senior and Windward Island Under 19 player SELENA ROSS wish to thank Mr. Brown and the CCC Cricket Club from New York/ Jamaica for a donation of valuable cricket gear.

On Wednesday, June 14 the hand over to Selena Ross was done by club representative Sheldon Thorpe and Northern Cluster Head Coach Alton Crafton.
