District 1 STRIKERS are the first ever Champions of the MINISTRY OF YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AND SPORTS CPL/ST. LUCIA KINGS SCHOOLS UNDER 19 T-20 X-PLOSION.

In the tournament’s Grand Finals played on Thursday July 13, 2023 under some very favorable cricket conditions at the Gros Islet Playing Field, District 1 STRIKERS enjoyed a well deserved 36 run victory over District 8 CHALLENGERS.

District 1 STRIKERS batting first made 134 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs with Zhanni Joseph top scoring with a fighting half-century.

Zhanni Joseph made 53 inclusive of 3 fours and 2 sixes. Skipper Amari Venner with 40 also made a valiant contribution to his team’s total. The wicket-takers for District 8 CHALLENGERS were, Garet Alphonse with 2 for 30 in 4 overs and 1 wicket each to Jaheem Simeon and Jude Joseph.

Chasing 135 for victory, District 8 CHALLENGERS faltered under some good pressure bowling by District 1 STRIKERS and were eventually bowled out for 98 in 18.1 overs.

The main contributibutors with the bat were, Aiden Scholar with 18, Jude Joseph 16, Cody Fontinelle 11 and Sylvan James 10.

The wicket takers for District 1 STRIKERS were, Zhanni Joseph with 3 for 18 in 4 overs, Neil Poyotte 2 for 11 in 4 overs and 1 wicket each to Jaden Khodra, Christian Peter, Verquane Estaphane, Lynzie James and Captain Amari Venner.

RESULT: DISTRICT 1 STRIKERS DEFEATED DISTRICT 8 CHALLENGERS BY 36 RUNS. The awards and prize giving ceremony is expected to take place in the up coming week.
