Castries, Saint Lucia: Castries Comprehensive Secondary earned a hard-fought 4-wicket victory over Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary in the 2023 Saint Lucia Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Schools Under 16, 40 Over Cricket Tournament on Monday, June 12.

One match as per schedule was played as the 2023 Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Schools Under 16, 40 Over Cricket Tournament continued on Monday, June 12 at the Gros Islet Playing Field.

Leon Hess Comprehensive batting first made 114 all out in 20.1 overs with Windward Island Under 15 player and team captain AARON ST CLAIR making a fighting half century.

Aaron St Clair made a good looking 84 inclusive of 9 fours and 5 sixes, off 68 balls. The wicket takers for Castries Comprehensive Secondary were, Kaylum Thomas with 4 for 35 in 7 overs, Daniel Lorde 2 for 17 4 overs, Lynzie James 2 for 35 in 6.1 overs and 1 wicket to Cayden Francois.

Set a victory target of 115, Castries Comprehensive finished on 116 for 6 in 19.4 overs with Kaylum Thomas making 22 and Kareem Francis 17. The wicket takers for Leon Hess Comprehensive were, Leon Alexander with 3 for 47 in 8 overs, Aider Scholar 2 for 13 in 2.4 overs and 1 wicket to Bjorn Fanis.

RESULT: CASTRIES COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY DEFEATED LEON HESS COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY BY 4 WICKETS.

The tournament continues on Tuesday June 13 with Ciceron Secondary coming up against Castries Comprehensive Secondary at the Gros Islet Playing Field.

The Northern Cluster Grassroots/ Ministry of Youth Development and Sports/ Gros Islet Community/ After-school Cricket Training continued on Monday, June 12, 2023, at the Beausejour Indoor Facility. 

The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports hosted several matches under the 40 Over Cricket tournament between the teams of the secondary and primary schools of Saint Lucia. The matches are staged with the aim of strengthening sporting spirit among the students.
