CPL 2022: Jamaica Tallawahs starts off tournament with victory against Patriots by 47 runs

In the first match of the CPL 2022, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots won the toss and chose to bowl. However, the bowling and fielding of the Patriots missed runouts and faced several drops leading Tallawahs to set the target of 184. At the final scores, they were only two outs with 183 runs

CPL 2022: Jamaica Tallawahs turned out champions in their first match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2022 by securing a victory of 47 runs against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. On the field of Warner Park Stadium in Basseterre, the audiences witnessed an exciting cricket match between these countries that kickstarts the CPL 2022. 

In the first match of the CPL 2022, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots won the toss and chose to bowl. However, the bowling and fielding of the Patriots missed runouts and faced several drops leading Tallawahs to set the target of 184. At the final scores, they were only two outs with 183 runs. 

Jamaica Tallawahas sores 183 runs with two wickets

On the other hand, the Patriots were not managed to even touch the final target as Tallawahs were nearly flawless in the catching field. With their exceptional performance, Tallawahas managed to drop all the batsmen of the Patriots and make them score only 136 at the eight outs. The entire situation makes the Tallwahas win over the defending champions by 47 runs and eight wickets.

The player of the match was turned out Brandon King, who scored 89 runs in 57 balls. He hit eight 4s and six 6s in his run to 89. Along with that, Nicholson Gordon turned out to be a great bowler for Tallawahs and, in his first T20 game for the cricket team to get three wickets. 

The players of the Jamaica Tallawahs are Rovman Powell, Fabian Allen, Brandon King, Mohammad Amir, Kennar Lewis, Shamarh Brooks, Amir Jangoo, Sandeep Lamichhane, Jamie Merchant, Imad Wasim, Chris Green, Miguel Pretorius, Raymon Reifer, Shemar Springer, Kirk McKenzie, Nicholson Gordon and Joshua James. 

As per the schedule of CPL 2022, Jamaica Tallawahs will be played their next match against these countries;

  • Saint Lucia Kings on September 7, 2022
  • Trinbago Knight Riders on September 10, 2022
  • Barbados Royals on September 11, 2022
  • St Kitts and Nevis Patriots on September 14, 2022
  • Barbados Royals on September 15, 2022
  • Trinbago Knight Riders on September 17, 2022
  • Guyana Amazon Warriors on September 21, 2022
  • Saint Lucia Kings on September 25, 2022. 

Caribbean Premier League 2022 is a T20 series of cricket matches played in the different fields of the Caribbean countries such as Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Lucia, St Kitts and Nevis. The finals and playoffs will be played in Guyana. 

The month-long tournament will be concluded on September 30, 2022. The six teams of the CPL 2022 are named after the names of the Caribbean countries. Various national and international players are part of the different teams. 

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots secured the championship of CPL 2022 last year against Saint Lucia Kings.
