CPL 2022: Registering the first win in the Caribbean Premier League 2022, Guyana Amazon Warriors beat Saint Lucia Kings by six wickets. The match was held at Darren Sammy Cricket Stadium in Saint Lucia, and the Kings witnessed a second straight loss in the tournament.
Firstly, Guyana Amazon Warriors won the toss and chose to field. Saint Lucia Kings started with 77 at zero out in the powerplay. With the disciplined bowling of the warriors, Kings were restricted to 161 for seven, with Johnson Charles batting through the innings and scoring an 87 in just 59 balls.
Even after losing the early wickets, Guyana Amazon Warriors witnessed a great 66-run partnership between Shimron Hetmyer and Heinrich Klassen.
Saint Lucia scored 161 scores in seven wickets and in 20 overs. The best players in the team were Johnson Charles with 87 runs, Faf du Plessis with 31 runs. They lost Guyana Amazon Warriors as Warriors chased the target of 162 in four wickers and in 18.2 overs. They won the match by six wickets. The best players were Heirich Klassen with 61 runs, Shimron Hetmeyer with 32 runs, and Chadrapual Hemraj with 23 runs.
Caribbean Premier League 2022 has been started on August 31, 2022, and will be concluded on September 30, 2022. The first match was played by St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Jamaica Tallawahs.
Guyana Amazon Warriors has played four matches so far and won the fourth match, which became their first winning match of the tournament. The month-long tournament has been played on the different fields of the Caribbean nations. The first seven matches of the tournament have been played at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis. Now, the other eight matches have been played in Saint Lucia.
The other matches of the tournament will be played at Trinidad and Tobago and finals and playoffs will be played at Guyana.
