CPL 2022: Guyana Amazon Warriors secured victory against Jamaica Tallawahs in front of their homeland. In the 25th match, 10th Hero Caribbean Premier League T20 2022, the Warriors beat Tallawahs by 12 runs.
Guyana Amazon Warriors played their first match on their home ground that is Providence Stadium and attained a win. However, the overall performance of the team remained low to the mark, and they were unable even to acquire a good spot in the points table.
Firstly, when the toss was taken place, it was won by Jamaica Tallawahs, and they opted to field first, but the decision has not worked well for the team. The final three overs turned out to be great for the Warriors as they gave a splendid performance.
With the exceptional bowling from Jamaica Tallawahs, the Warriors were restricted to 104 by seven outs after 17 overs. But Odean Smith and Keemo Paul made another 74 runs off 27 balls and led the Warriors to a massive 178 with outs.
With a good start for Jamaica Tallawahs, Brandon King turned out to be a great player for the team as he hit his first Hero CPL century since the start of the tournament.
The Tallawahs were in complete control of the match as they were making good bats. Yet, they received the target of 179, and the seventy-four runs were plundered during the final three overs.
The Warriors took three wickets of Jamaica Tallawahs with hatrick, which led them to lose the match. Brandon King secured 104 runs in the 66 balls and became the first individual to hit the century since the start of the cricket season on the Caribbean grounds.
Guyana will host the eight matches of the tournament, and two of them have been played. The first match has won by Barbados Royals against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. The playoffs and finals will also be played on the sports ground in Guyana.
