CPL 2022: Making it streak going on, Barbados Royals secured the eighth victory in the 24th match of the Caribbean Premier League T20 2022. The win against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots became their first victory in Providence Stadium, Guyana.
After concluding matches in Trinidad and Tobago, hero CPL 2022 has been shifted to Guyana. Now, Guyana will host other eight matches of the CPL 2022. The playoffs and finals will also be held in Guyana.
Barbados Royals won the match by 36 runs against the Patriots. Firstly, the Patriots have won the toss and opted to bowl first, which has not worked well for the team. However, the starting for the Patriots went out great after Dwayne Bravo turned down the wicket of Rahkeem Cornwall when the Barbados Royals stood at 22 runs with one out.
Further, they reached the runs of 43 at the end of the powerplay with one wicket. However, the Royals were slow during the start of the match and stood at 55 runs with two wickets by the end of 10 overs. With the starting of the 11th over, the team came into power and touched the runs of 103 in just two outs by the end of the 16 overs.
With some boundaries during the last overs, Barbados Royals made the total runs of 156 in three runs and set the target of 157 for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. When Patriots came to bat, they gave it a good start by making runs of 21 with zero wickets, and at the end of the powerplay, the patriots stood at 43 in zero out.
Ewin Lewis of the Patriots made 41 runs in the 36 balls and became the top score for him since the start of the tournament. At the end of the 16th over, the Patriots stood at 101 with five wickets down. At the end of the match, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots stood at 120 and were unable to chase the target, which led the Royals to win the match.
Barbados Royals stood at the top position in the points table after winning eight matches out of the nine in the CPL 2022 tournament so far. Saint Lucia Kings bag the second position while Jamaica Tallawahs on the third matches. Barbados Royals also confirmed their spot in the playoffs.
