CPL 2022: Barbados Royals secures 7th victory in tournament, confirms place in playoffs

In the 22nd match of the tournament, the Warriors won the toss and chose to field first, but the decision turned out to be a failure for the team.

CPL 2022: Barbados Royals again caught their streak after winning one more match against the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Caribbean Premier League T20 2022. After securing the seventh victory by 29 runs with a commanding DLS (Duckworth-Lewis-Stern), the Royals confirmed their place in the playoffs of the season.

In the 22nd match of the tournament, the Warriors won the toss and chose to field first, but the decision turned out to be a failure for the team.

However, Guyana Amazon Warriors emerged with a good start as they made the Royals three downs by taking wickets during the regular intervals. The good partnership between Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Jason Holder kickstarted the team and ended up with a total of 107 at six-wicket down. The innings get shortened to 16 overs because of the rainfall.

Further, the target set by the Royals emerged as more than enough due to their disciplined and restricted bowling when the Guyana Amazon Warriors came to bat. The bowling of the Royals restricted the batters of the Warriors and pushed them toward victory.

When Guyana Amazon Warriors needed 111 to win, Warriors were thought to be an advantage, but Royals’ bowling from Mujeeb and Rahkeem Cornwall restricted them in the first four overs at the 12 runs will the one wicket down.

Guyana Amazon Warriors did not go tough against Barbados Royals, and due to rain with the DLS method, the Royals attained victory by 29 runs. In the 16 overs, Guyana Amazon Warriors made 81 runs with nine wickets down, and they lost the match.

Caribbean Premier League 2022 started on August 31, 2022, and 23 matches of the season have been played so far. The first seven matches were held in St Kitts and Nevis, other eight matches were held in Saint Lucia. This match between Barbados Royals and Guyana Amazon Warriors was held in Trinidad and Tobago.

The matches of Trinidad ad Tobago have been completed and now the finals and playoffs will be played in Guyana.
