COVID-19 in Barbados
Barbados: Best-dos Santos Public health Laboratory has reported that a total of two hundred individuals were diagnosed with the COVID-19 pandemic on Sunday, January 2, 2022. Out of these new cases, 74 males and 126 females have shown positive results of the deadly virus.
The laboratory has discovered new cases from the 896 tests of the COVID-19 virus.
Moreover, 210 Barbadians are following their COVID-19 protocols by staying in the isolation facilities. At the same time, the number of isolated people at their respective residences is 1378.
A total of 23 individuals from the new cases are under the age of 18, whereas the number of people who are 18 and older than 18 is 177.
Since the emergence of the pandemic in Barbados, the number of cases has shown a positive result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Out of which, a total of 13,800 males have confirmed the deadly virus, whereas 15,360 females have tested positive from the contagious mutant.
On the other hand, a total of 262 people have succumbed to the virus so far.
The authorities of Barbados have started the National Vaccination Programme against the deadly virus. Under this vaccination programme, a total of 156,003 people have been vaccinated with at least one dose of vaccine against the viral infection.
On the other hand, the number of people who are fully immunised who have taken both doses of vaccine against the contagious mutant is 143,735.
Further, the rate of vaccine of the eligible population who have taken their first jab is 68.3 percent, while the rate of the people who have been vaccinated with both doses of vaccine against viral infection is 62.9 percent. It also refers to 53.2 percent of the total population of Barbados.
The government of Barbados advised people to get fully vaccinated as the general election is approaching in the country. However, the authorities have prevented the COVID-19 affected Barbadians from voting in the election on January 19, 2022.
