St Lucia: The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs confirm a total of 118 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. These samples were processed on Monday, May 16, 2022, from a total of 321 samples of which 286 samples were from the Ezra Long Laboratory and 35 samples from the Laboratory Services and Consultations Limited.
These samples were collected from May 14, 2022 to May 16, 2022. This number of positive cases makes up 36.8% of all the samples against the COVID-19 pandemic processed on that date. With the emergence of the new cases of the COVID-19, the total number of cases diagnosed in the country to date reached 24,514.
The Ministry of Health, wellness and elderly Affairs of St Lucia have also received confirmation about the recovery of 88 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19. The number of active cases in the country since the pandemic has emerged in the country is 706. Currently, there are twenty-one positive cases of COVID-19 admitted at the Respiratory Hospital, of which one is severely ill.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic has emerged in St Lucia, a total of 53, 752 individuals have been fully vaccinated. Another 5, 331 are partially vaccinated and 7, 353 have received their booster shot.
As per the status of the vaccination drive in the country, the government of St Lucia has opened various vaccination sites where people can get their shots against viral infection.
Vaccination will resume tomorrow, Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at various Wellness Centres according to the published COVID-19 vaccination schedule.
The timing for the vaccination will be varied from 9 am to 4 pm.
