‘Corridor of Unity’ programme to foster cohesion in ECD communities :President Ali

Georgetown, Guyana: Dr. Irfaan Ali on 13 Feb 2021 declared that several areas along the East Coast of Demerara would profit from a pilot project to enhance unity as Guyana moves ahead with a singular objective of growth and development for all.

The areas targeted are Lusignan, Enterprise, Buxton, Foulis, and Golden Grove. The Head of State gave it his mission to inform the residents of the plan personally.

President’s first stop was at Lusignan, where he highlighted the uniqueness of the program.

“These villages will be a bit of a pilot programme that we’re pointing to as a Corridor of Unity and Oneness; such oneness will be spread all across our country, as we build a future that is provided on unity and respect for all.”

President Ali was joined by some government officials, including Attorney General & Minister of Legal Affairs, Anil Nandlall; Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hugh Todd; Minister or Culture, Youth and Sport, Charles Ramson Jr, and the Minister in the Ministry of Housing and Water, Susan Rodrigues.

The President also performed sports gear to the various clubs in the communities as he published another project, ‘the Republic Unity Cup. ‘

The President noted that sport brings the community together in a non-contentious way. He said that in interest to a trophy that will be up for grabs, the winning team would also earn the opportunity to benefit from community development projects.

“So you are playing for your community.”

He repeated that the programme would give meaning to the oneness message and reminded the residents of his speech in Parliament on Thursday about his Government’s intention to unify the country.

“Great leadership initiative. You’re the best Guyana ever had. I think he surpassed all previous presidents.” Rhean said 

Guyana is trying to do best  under the Ali leaderships .
