Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, received a congratulatory message from Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on his victory in the snap general elections 2022.

Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, received a congratulatory message from Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on his victory in the snap general elections 2022.
While sending greetings on Saturday, Premier Keqiang termed Dominica as a significant cooperative partner of China in the Caribbean region.
Outlining the cordial relationship between China and Dominica, Li, in his message, asserted that both the country established their diplomatic ties 18 years ago. He stated that the bilateral relations had maintained sound and steady development, with increased political mutual trust, fruitful practical cooperation and deepened friendship between their people.
Referring to Dominica as a good friend and good partner, Li asserted that both countries had developed good relationships. He added that he is looking forward to working with Dr Skerrit to push the friendly cooperative relationship and develop them to a higher level.
Dominica witnessed the snap general elections on December 6, 2022, and the PM Roosevelt Skerrit-led DLP emerged victorious with 19 out of 21 seats. The other two seats, named Marigot and the Salisbury constituencies won by independent candidates.
Dr Roosevelt Skerrit won the elections and swore in as Prime Minister of Dominica for the sixth consecutive term. After the declaration of the result, PM Skerrit extended gratitude to the voters who came out in huge numbers to support him and his party.
He also appreciated all the candidates of the Dominica Labour Party and the independent candidates, and Team Unity Dominica for their decision to contest the elections. This year, Dominica witnessed the nomination of 45 candidates, the highest in over a decade.
Meanwhile, various world leaders and organisations have also sent their congratulatory messages to PM Roosevelt Skerrit for his reelection as the prime minister of Dominica.
Scott Furssedonn-Wood, High Commissioner of the UK to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, also took to Twitter to congratulate Dr Roosevelt Skerrit and Dominica Labour Party. Along with that, a congratulatory message also came from the High Commission of Canada to Barbados and the OECS.
Various regional leaders, such as the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia- Philip J Pierre, Prime Minister of Barbados- Mia Amor Mottley, Prime Minister of Grenada– Dickon Mitchell, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis- Dr Terrance Drew, joined the world leaders to extend their greetings and congratulatory message to PM Dr Roosevelt Skerrit for victory in elections.
