Chinese city Wuhan to test entire population after COVID cases reported

8u8A total of 300 cases were detected in the past ten days; this is one of the most extensive outbreaks in the city. Around 15 provinces across the country have been affected, which has driven to the government rolling out mass testing standards and lockdown restrictions.

The health authorities have accused the spread of the contagious COVID-19 virus to the highly infectious Delta variant and the domestic tourism season.

This announcement was made as the Republic of China reported ninety infection cases of the novel coronavirus on Tuesday. The National Health Commission has stated that sixty-one of the reported cases were locally transmitted compared with the 55 local cases a day earlier.

The Chinese government had been extensively successful in controlling the virus within its borders.

However, this new spread of the COVID-19 cases, which was first detected among the workers at a busy airport in Nanjing, has aroused concern among the authorities and the people. The Authorities have tested a total of 9.2 million inhabitants of Nanjing three times and inflicted a lockdown on hundreds of thousands of citizens.

Over the weekend, the spotlight was turned to the popular tourist destination of China – Zhangjiajie in Hunan province, where numerous of the latest COVID-19 infections have appeared.

China’s leading respiratory disease expert – Zhong Nanshan, while addressing the media, informed the reporters and stated, “Zhangjiajie has now become the new ground zero for China’s epidemic spread.”

The new COVID-19 outbreak has also reached the capital – Beijing, with the city reporting numerous locally transmitted infections.
