CELAC nations have capacity to find solutions to problems, says PM Skerrit

Dominican Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit addressed the meeting of the head of states at the CELAC (Community of Latin American and the Caribbean States) Summit held in Mexico City.

Roseau: On Saturday, Dominican Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit addressed the meeting of the head of states at the CELAC (Community of Latin American and the Caribbean States) Summit held in Mexico City.

During the address, Prime Minister said that he is the youngest leader in the roundtable discussion so that he would be speaking for youngsters of the CELAC Summit. He further expressed that they owe youngsters a debt of commitment to outline policies and programs in a bid to elevate the current conditions.

He said that CELAC was founded to make space within the Caribbean and Latin American countries to address the real issues of the real people. PM added that all CELAC nations face similar challenges, including climate change, access to education, unemployment and poverty levels.

Expressing solidarity in the capacities of the Caribbean and Latin American countries, PM Skerrit said that they could find solutions to the problems.

CELAC region have been in trouble before, “Our forefathers fought for independence, and we are now in a fight for the independence of our own society and independence of our own people by empowering them with the tools to survive as independent people,” PM Skerrit asserted.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit reiterated the efforts of Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador for reviving the CELAC while thanking Cuba and Venezuela for providing assistance to Dominica during the period of crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
