CDC put Bahamas, Belize, and Montserrat at “high” risk for travellers

Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the United States issued their list of destinations of the categories of different countries, which have added five new countries to its "high" risk category for travellers on Monday, May 23, 2022.

Caribbean: Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the United States issued their list of destinations of the categories of different countries, which have added five new countries to its “high” risk category for travellers on Monday, May 23, 2022.

These five countries belong to the Caribbean region and have been moved to Level 3 for COVID-19 by CDC.

Further, four destinations have also been listed at Level 2, which is placed at moderate risk.

CDC also explained the different levels which will differentiate the countries. Level 3 will be identified as the country is at high risk to travel, and it is the top rung in terms of the risk level.

Further, level 2 will be considered a “moderate” risk; on the other hand, Level 1 will be a “low” risk.

Further, level 4 was previously considered the high-risk category, and now it is reserved only for special circumstances. It includes the high case counts, the emergence of the new variant of concerns and any kind of the collapse being witnessed by the country in their health care infrastructure.

However, under the new system, the new country is not in level 4 so far.

Here is the full list of the five destinations that have been moved by the CDC in the “high” risk column:

• the Bahamas

• Belize

• Eswatini

• Montserrat

• Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

Further, the past four weeks of advisories have witnessed little in the way of the dramatic shifts in status as per the situation prevailed by the past winter and early spring during the surge in the Omicron variant.

So, CDC put the countries of Central America such as Belize, Bahamas and Montserrat and the Caribbean island countries such as Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and the southern African country of Eswatini in the level which means “high risk” for COVID-19 pandemic.
