While taking strict steps against Russia, Caribbean countries have temporarily ceased their Citizenship by Investment Programme for the applicants from Russia and Belarus for the security and safety of the nations.
The authorities of the Caribbean region have issued the statement in regards to the step.
According to Caribbean based media WIC News, the government of Antigua and Barbuda stated that they had been continually keeping their eye on the disturbing and deteriorating events that occurred in Ukraine, which forced them to think that it is extremely challenging to operate CBI programme in these jurisdictions.
“The ongoing conflicts halted our comprehensive due-diligence process, which is mandatory to provide citizenship to the legitimate applicant. The team of the due-diligence providers have found it difficult to conduct investigations of the applicants from Russia and Belarus,” the official statement reads.
It further noted that the applications coming from the prior mentioned countries would not be processed in the situation, and further information will be provided if the situations witnessed some changes, as per the statement.
Moreover, the countries such as the Commonwealth of Dominica and St Kitts and Nevis also declared the terminations of the CBI programme from Russia and Belarus and also notified that the CBI units of the countries will not accept the application from the aforementioned countries.
In regard to this, the statement of the countries mentioned that the step is essential to protect the safety and security of the national and international community. The terminations of the programme from the countries will also aid the nations to maintain the integrity of the CBI programme.
The authorities of the mentioned Caribbean countries expressed their concern and condemned Russia over its aggression against Ukraine and stressed the significance of the sovereignty of the particular country.
Various officials of the EU nations lauded the Caribbean countries for their continuous support to the United Kingdom and Europe.
WIC News reported that the CBI programme of all five jurisdictions of the Caribbean is crowned to have the most comprehensive due diligence process due to the 8 to 10 percent application rejection rate. The data shown by the Citizenship by Investment Agent, AAA Associates Immigration Services, stated that the jurisdictions always ensure the safety of the citizens.
With the help of the international independent renowned firms, every application of the person who is over the age of 16 has been processed thoroughly to determine any illegal conduct of the particular applicant. Moreover, while examining the financial standards of the applicants with the rigorous background checks, the CBI programme of the five countries have also performed well in various indexes such Financial Times index, which has ranked them highly.
