Caribbean nations vote in favour of UN resolution against Russian invasion in Ukraine

Amid the crisis between Russia and Ukraine, seven Caribbean nations just voted in favour of this United Nations resolution against Russian aggression in Ukraine.

Amid the crisis between Russia and Ukraine, seven Caribbean nations just voted in favour of this United Nations resolution against Russian aggression in Ukraine. The Caribbean nations such as Barbados, St Kitts and Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, St Lucia, St Vincent and The Grenadines and Grenada have voiced and extended their support to Ukraine.

Earlier, various Caribbean leaders have shown their concern and called for diplomatic talks between the two countries.

Firstly, Prime Minister of Dominica Dr Roosevelt Skerrit has shown concern for the situation in Ukraine and expressed their deep concern for the disturbance in the country after the invasion of Russia.

He emphasized, “United Nations Charter set out the parameters which should be followed to maintain peace and sovereignty of every country. These actions are contrary to the maintenance of international peace and security, as enshrined in the United Nations Charter, “outlined PM Skerrit.

The ongoing crisis is not relevant, and the government of Dominica always prefers diplomatic talks, and we urged for a return to diplomatic dialogue in an effort to stop the constant turmoil, underscored prime minister.

Further, Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Amor Mottley also expressed deep concern over Russia Ukraine tension, PM Mia Motley voted that the things happening between Ukraine and Russia over the past few days and weeks was quite disturbing for the ordinary people of the countries, but the United Nations and other firm leaders must have to adopt adequate steps which all states depend for their safety and security.

Various CARICOM leaders have also condemned Russia over its military incursion in Ukraine.

“We condemn in the strongest terms the military invasion and attacks on Ukraine by the Russian Federation and call for the immediate cessation of all hostile and provocative actions against Ukraine and call for the immediate withdrawal of the military. Equally, we call for a speedy return to dialogue and diplomacy as a basis for all parties to listen and respond to each other’s concerns”, St Lucia Prime Minister Philip J Pierre.
