Caribbean Community launches Slogan Competition to mark its 50th Anniversary

July 4th, 2023, will mark the 50th Anniversary of the Caribbean Community. The Caribbean Community Secretariat (CCS) launches the 50th Anniversary Slogan Competition to commemorate the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

CARICOM: July 4th, 2023, will mark the 50th Anniversary of the Caribbean Community. The Caribbean Community Secretariat (CCS) launches the 50th Anniversary Slogan Competition to commemorate the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). 

This competition aims to raise awareness and sensitize nationals of the Community on the role, importance and achievements of the Caribbean Community in the Regional Integration development agenda over the past 50 years. The slogan competition also aims to raise interest and actively engage nationals in the celebration of the Caribbean Community’s Anniversary in a manner that encourages creativity, innovation and learning, while fostering and infusing the CARICOM identity and spirit of Community and unity.

𝐁) 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲

Entrants must be nationals of a CARICOM Member State or Associate Member as at the date of the deadline for submission of entries to the Slogan Competition. Participants under the age of 18 must receive the consent of a parent or guardian. *(Nationals under the age of 18 are unable to enter into a contract with the Secretariat.)

𝐂) 𝐒𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐚𝐧 𝐓𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐜

The Slogan should uniquely communicate the CARICOM Identity and Spirit; reflect the lived experiences of a national of the Community; and evoke pride in the achievement of the Community over the past 50 years, as well as build excitement for CARICOM’s next 50 years.

𝐃) 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

1. The Slogan Competition is open to all nationals of CARICOM Member States and Associate Members.

2. The Slogan may be submitted in either English, French or Dutch using a maximum of eight ( words.

3. Staff, Spouses and Children of staff of the CARICOM Secretariat, Regional Institutions and the Committee of CARICOM Ambassadors are not eligible to enter the competition.

4. Slogan entries must be submitted using the Entry Form and showing the:

• Name, telephone number and email address of the applicant.

5. Entries missing any of the above information will not be considered.

6. Submission is limited to one (1) entry per Entrant

7. Technical details and requirements of the Slogan:

i. Slogan must be original and unpublished

ii. Slogan should be submitted with a brief explanation of its meaning and the main ideas represented

8. The slogan competition will be judged according to the following criteria:

i. Relevance to the vision and goals of the Caribbean Community

ii. Originality

iii. Impact and presentation

𝐄) 𝐒𝐮𝐛𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧

To be eligible for consideration, the Slogan must be submitted to the National CARICOM 50th Anniversary Planning Committee [place local committee email address in this space] on the Slogan Competition Entry Form and signed by each entrant, no later than September 9th 2022.

The entries after the deadline will not be permitted. 

F) Recognition of Slogan Winner

The winning Slogan will be featured on official documents, paraphernalia and promotional items during the celebration of the Community’s 50th Anniversary. The winner of the Slogan competition will be awarded a cash prize of US$500.00 (Five Hundred United States Dollars), invited to a photo opportunity with the CARICOM Secretary-General, and will be featured on CARICOM Secretariat’s social media platforms.

𝐆) 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬

The Slogan submitted must be unpublished and exclusively created for this competition.

Entrants will allowed to CARICOM Member States, the CARICOM Secretariat and Regional Institutions to get their submission in print and digital media in order to marketing and promotional pruposes.

Each entrant accepts that all entries become the property of the Caribbean Community and copyright of or all intellectual property rights in the Slogan will vest exclusively in the Caribbean Community. Thus, each entrant further understands that if her/his Slogan is selected as the winning Slogan, s/he will relinquish all claims, rights (including any moral rights), and benefits related to the display, modification, reproduction, publication, distribution, use, and other exploitations of the work, other than the prize awarded to the winning entry. 

𝐇) 𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬

By participating in The Caribbean Community 50th Anniversary Slogan Competition, each entrant represents and warrants that s/he has read and agreed to be bound by The Caribbean Community 50th Anniversary Slogan Competition General Guidelines. Each entrant will have to agree that her/his entry becomes the property of the Caribbean Community and the copyright and all intellectual property rights in the Slogan shall be vested exclusively in the Caribbean Community. Thus, each entrant further understands that if her/his Slogan is selected as the winning Slogan, s/he will relinquish all claims, rights (including any moral rights), and benefits related to the display, modification, reproduction, publication, distribution, use, and other exploitations of the work, other than the prize awarded to the winning entry. Each entrant also affirms that the Slogan submitted is her/his original work, has not been copied from others and does not violate the intellectual property rights of any other person or entity.

𝐈) 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞

The entry will be submitted to the competition makes the consey and acceptance by each entrant that s/he has read and agrees to be bound by all stated guidelines, rules, terms and conditions herein, and that the judges’ decision is final.
