Caribbean Airlines was facing disruptions to its operations from August 20, 2023 due to cockpit crew constraints. The airline has experienced delays and cancellations to many of its international and domestic services. Affected customers were being advised and were re-accommodated on the first available services.
Caribbean Airlines also issued the statement on the delays of flights and said that the disruptions were caused by a high volume of sick calls (93) from pilots scheduled to operate flights over the period August 18 through August 20, 2023.
The calls were received just prior to the pilots having to report for duty for their respective flights. This resulted in approximately 60 flights have to be cancelled between August 19 and August 20, 2023.
The unavailability of these pilots, combined with the short notice, made it impossible to recover. The airline apologized to all the affected passengers and said that they deeply regret the distress caused by these disruptions, which were beyond their control, and the subsequent impact on their very important travel plans.
Besides this, the airline also announced the operations of the flights of the Caribbean Airline are fully restored and displaced passengers are provided with accommodation.
