With “Rethinking Tourism,” the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) announces the theme for this year’s World Tourism Day celebration. This year marks a significant shift toward recognition as a crucial pillar of development. They also suggested three actions you could take to rethink tourism. Furthermore, they launched some projects to restart a greener, smarter, and safer tourism — “the tourism we want”.
The theme for this year is to transform the tourism industry into a more sustainable business by developing new skills and opportunities for people and the planet. It aims to build on the momentum of the sector’s recovery and put people and the world first.
Every year on September 27, the world observes World Tourism Day to raise awareness regarding the social, historical, ecological, and economic benefits of tourism as well as the potential contribution this industry has to the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals.
