Caribbean: Caribbean Airlines announced to update baggage advisory for persons traveling from the international airport, in Toronto on December 26, 2022.  The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) is working to rectify the baggage delays currently being experienced at Terminal 3 at the Lester B. Pearson International Airport, Toronto.

While the situation has improved today (December 26, 2022) there are still extensive lags in the movement of bags due to the mechanical issues caused by the extreme frigid temperatures.

As such, Caribbean Airlines strongly recommends that where possible customers travel with hand luggage only. Be sure to pack medication and valuables in your hand luggage.

Customers who opt to bring checked bags, kindly note that there are setbacks in getting the bags to your destination due to the situation at Terminal 3 which is impacting ALL airlines operating from this Terminal.

As Caribbean Airlines receives updates from the GTAA, we will advise customers travelling FROM Toronto. Kindly note that at this time, only outbound bags are impacted.

The airline is directly contacting passengers who travelled on December 24 & 25, and were impacted by these baggage delays, to advise on the status of their bags.

The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTA) which is responsible for the Lester B.

Pearson International Airport, Toronto, has advised Caribbean Airlines and all air carriers operating out of Terminal 3, that the terminal’s baggage system has been shut down due to mechanical issues. The situation was caused by the extreme frigid temperatures in Toronto.

Consequently, it cannot guarantee that passengers checked baggage will accompany them on their respective flights. This issue has impacted. ALL airlines operating out of Terminal 3. Caribbean Airlines suggests that where possible customers travel with hand luggage only as extensive delays in receiving checked bags are expected.
