Roseau, Dominica: Caribbean entrepreneur and businessman Mark Maloney extended greetings and congratulations to Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica- Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, for his resounding victory in the December 6 snap general elections.
In the congratulatory message, Mark Maloney cited, “I would like to congratulate Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and Dominica Labour Party on their victory in yesterday’s general elections.”
He asserted that the win had strengthened the confidence of investors in the further development of Dominica. He added that he and his group of companies will always look forward to a partnership with the government of Dominica.
Dominica Labour Party secured a landslide victory after winning 19 out of 21 seats, and the two remaining was won by the Independent candidates. After the declaration of the result, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit extended greetings to the candidates who emerged victorious in their respective constituencies.
PM Skerrit also extended gratitude to Team Unity Dominica and the independent candidates for their decision to contest general elections. Around 45 candidates have filed nominations for the snap general elections, which is the largest in the decade.
PM Skerrit stated that the nomination of the candidates in such a huge number showed that democracy is alive and well in the Commonwealth of Dominica. He stressed that the results also depicted that the country has witnessed free and fair elections.
Dominica Labour Party won the general elections for the sixth consecutive year, and people have voted for PM Roosevelt Skerrit and his party. DLP lost two constituencies such as Salisbury and Marigot.
According to the electoral office of Dominica, six constituencies were duly elected on the nomination day as they have not faced any electorate on the election day. Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit was also duly elected.
The country has witnessed polling on the 15 constituencies, of which DLP has secured the majority on the 13 seats.
