He also speaks about various groups, support and efforts that Ocean Acres have gotten. He stressed that they had received major support across a multitude of private and public sector organizations.

The fundraiser was well attended and will serve to further expand the efforts of the charitable organization and raise hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Mark Maloney expressed thanks to all for coming out to support Ocean Acres in their ongoing work in rescue, protection, saving and homing of abused and abandon animals, dogs and cats. The support is incredible and to be commended.

I would like to specially mention Karen Whittaker, who had invested her entire life since 2019 when she voluntarily took over the management of this facility.

“What she does is truly incredible and beyond imagination when you understand the details of it. She has changed the lives of thousands of dogs and cats and also worked hard to educate Barbadians about taking care of their pets and animal cruelty which sadly was so prominent in the island and the society, “Mark Maloney added.

He noted that he is also a dog lover and worked to rescue abandoned dogs and take them to Ocean Acres.

Maloney stressed that he immediately recognized her genuine love and passion for the lives of animals and decided to help in the way he could, which could be with donations of food and other supplies for the animals, operation calls and the building of more dog canals or gardens.

Recalling the pandemic, he stated that in the pandemic, the dogs faced so much, and the island had not the capacity to save them.

He also appreciated the support from Canada and stated they joined an organization in Canada that agreed to take the dogs and provide them shelter in safer places. “I would like to thank the Canada team for their timeless efforts, “he added.

In addition to this, more companies have been providing support in creating shelters, canals and various resources and accommodations.

While extending his gratitude to the government of Barbados, he asserted that he is thankful to them for their recent involvement in working towards enforcing animal cruelty laws and principles of intervention to save dogs. He stated that the enforcement of any law is essential, which is done by the government of Barbados.

Ocean Acres is an Animal Sanctuary in Barbados which is formerly known as the Hope Sanctuary. It worked for the safety of the dogs and cats who are abused or abandoned.
