Roseau, Dominica: Dominica is all set to begin construction of the marina in the Cabrits in November this year. During the budget address, Finance Minister Dr Irving McIntyre announced that the government has signed an agreement for its construction.

The construction of marina is the part of the development plans for the North and the entire country. Dr McIntyre also announced that the feasibility and environmental studies as well as the designs have been completed. The construction will assist in the developmental aspects of Dominica.

Benefits of Marina at Cabrits are as follows:

  • It will provide dedicated slips for yachts with a length up to 60 ft as well as flexible spacing for berthing super yachts.
  • A repair yard, fuel farm, customs house, administrative building, and commercial spaces to be leased to businesses desirous of offering goods and services to visitors.

Investment of Dominica in Road Networks:

  • Dominica to complete $127 million East Coast Road—from Bois Diable to Hatton Garden via Castle Bruce and the Kalinago Territory by December 31, 2023.
  • The country has completed the construction of the Hillsborough to York Valley segment of the Layou Valley Road. The project cost $20.0 million.
  • Dominica to commence work on the segment from Layou Bridge to the Warner intersection.
  • The Roseau Enhancement project will also continue this year
  • The work on the installation of sidewalks along Virgin Lane and the rehabilitation of Great George Street will continue.

Finance Minister Dr McIntyre said,”These significant investments in improvement of access to Dominica, is supported by the substantial efforts that the Government continues to make in the improvements of our road network.”

Dominica is investing to enhance economic opportunities for the people of the East. The road will benefit residents, tourism stakeholders and farmers in that area. They look forward to witnessing the expansion of activity and transformation of the eastern communities.

Dr McIntyre said that the road connectivity is an integral part of development, and this is why this Government has prioritized the upgrade and development of the roads. They recognize the importance of this road to the farmers, tourism operators and other residents travelling from the West Coast to the East.

The Government constructed the new West Bridge, several retaining walls to protect Roseau and Pottersville from floods, rehabilitated the road along the River Bank and established the Roseau River Promenade—now the center of entertainment in Roseau.
