British Airways to commence direct flights between Antigua and Barbuda and Aruba

Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority announced the commencement of the new direct flight between Antigua and Barbuda and the ABC islands in the Dutch West Indies (Aruba) on Tuesday.

While sharing the update, Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority took to Facebook and stated that the initiative had been started by the international carrier- British Airways. The airways launched the new route service between Antigua and Aruba on Sunday, March 26, 2023, aiming to increase the inter-regional connectivity within the Caribbean.  

The additional flights will work as the platform to increase the number of arrivals in Antigua and Barbuda from the wider Caribbean region. It will ultimately lead to the upliftment of the airline services and tourism authority of the country. 

While expressing pleasure, the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority’s Director of Tourism for Latin America and the Caribbean, Charmaine Spencer, added that they are grateful to British Airways for starting the new twice-weekly tagged service as it becomes the first direct connection between Antigua and Aruba. He also lauded efforts ad steps taken by Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority and said that the new service will enhance the growth of the authority to step along with the new trends of the market. 

He said that the new service created a new opportunity for them to attract new potential visitors for the summer. It will also enhance the accessibility of several cultural events taking place in Antigua and Barbuda to travellers worldwide. 

Under the new service, the two-hour flight is scheduled to fly twice a week between Antigua and Aruba. The flight will fly every Sunday and Thursday for a week. 

Highlighting the significance of the new service, Diane Corrie, British Airways Commercial Manager, added that the new service will help them to strengthen the connectivity with the wider Caribbean. 

The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority also invited Dutch visitors to take benefit of the new service to get access to several exciting events taking place in the country in April and May 2023. The events included Antigua and Barbuda Art Week (April 17 – April 22), Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta (April 19 – April 24), Antigua Sailing Week (April 29 – May 5), Antigua and Barbuda Restaurant Week (May 7 – May 21) and Antigua’s Carnival (July 27 – August 8 ).
