Canada: On the sad demise of Former Premier of Nevis and Ambassador Vance Amory, Canada extended its deepest condolences to the Government and people of St Kitts and Nevis on Monday, April 4, 2022. 

While expressing sorrow, Canada in Barbados and OECS stated, “Canada extends its deepest condolences to the Government & people of #StKittsAndNevis following the passing of former Premier of Nevis, Amb. Vance Amory.”

The country further assured that they will always possess great bilateral ties with the administration of the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis. The embassy also exclaimed that Canada joins with all Kittitians & Nevisians in mourning the loss of a respected statesman. 

Further, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Civil Aviation and Premier of Nevis– Mark Brantley expressed gratitude to Canada for joining the morun of the respected statesman.

Former Premier and Ambassador Vance Amory took his last breath on April 2, 2022, due to cancer. He declared died in one of the London hospitals as he was admitted to the hospital due to contracting cancer. 

Born on May 22 1949, Amory belongs to Rawlins Village in St Kitts and Nevis. He completed all his studies in Nevis and was an active member of the local church since his childhood. Amory was also a renowned West Indies cricketer who played for the Combined Islands and the Leeward Islands, but some injuries forced him to leave cricket forever.

Further, in 2017, Amory endorsed Mark Brantley as a Premier of Nevis and entrusted him with vision of CCM. While expressing his trust, Amory stated that Brantley always worked for the upliftment of the residents of Nevis.

Now, Brantley is fulfilling all his expectations as a Premier. His policies, plans, and numerous decisions have always remained towards the growth of the residents of the country.

Various decisions such as the instalment of CCTV surveillance and significant investment in the Health and Industrial Sector showed him as a great leader for the country.
