St Kitts and Nevis: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Premier of Nevis and leader of Concerned Citizens’ Movement- Mark Brantley, has issued a statement on the controversy that has been created through a viral video, in which a woman has been witnessed disrupting the use of the beach by young children.
In the video, it has been seen that the lady has also called the police, where she is demanding the removal of kids from the beach.
While issuing a statement on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, Mark Brantley said that all the beaches on the island of Nevis are public property. He stressed that the beaches are free to use as this is a place where people visit to enjoy.
He noted, “Those who visit our island or choose to live on the island of Nevis are warmly welcomed. They will never experience such warmness and genuine hospitality anywhere else in the world. I wish to be pellucid, however, that our generous hospitality must not be abused.
Premier Brantley also called the behaviour of the woman offensive and unacceptable and also said that the woman and her spouse have apologized for her actions to the coaches, parents and students.
“The behaviour exhibited on the videos is unacceptable and offensive and must be condemned unreservedly. I gather that the woman involved and her spouse have apologized for her actions to the coaches, parents and students. I have nevertheless asked the Ministry of Education to investigate and report further on the incident,” he further added.
“I am to hope that there will never ever be a repeat of such behaviour on Nevis, whether by her or anyone else,” emphasized Brantley.
As per the reports and video circulating on social media, the incident occurred recently when the children from the primary schools have been practicing for the sports meets that are held annually under inter primary category on a public beach.
In mid of the practice, the children have been interpreted by the woman who sought to disrupt their use of the beach. So that’s why the issue become so popular and the Nevis Island Administration has taken note.
