Jamaica: One of the greatest reggae and dancehall music festivals in Jamaica is back. Reggae Sumfest showcases the island’s Indigenous music (and other genres), which continue to influence chart-topping music around the world.

Reggae Sumfest is known as the annual event which has the potential to attract music lovers across the globe. While celebrating its 30th anniversary, the festival is all set stage with captivating activities from July 16 to July 22, 2023, in the energetic city of Montego Bay.

The festival is back in the shores of Jamaica and is dubbed The Return. It will offer party events, cultural celebrations and great musical vibes to the patrons throughout the season. While showcasing the talents of international, local reggae and dancehall artists, the festival will work as the perfect exhibition of the art and craft.

It will feature fashion shows and film screenings. The exceptional and vibrant performance will be given by artists including Chronic Law, Masicka, Valiant, Morgan Heritage, Kabaka Pyramid, Tanya Stephens, and many more.

Remember Tessanne Chin (Caribbean Beat issue 126 cover girl), winner of the American reality TV competition show The Voice? She’s performed at Sumfest, in addition to countless internationally known Jamaican artists like Lila Ike and Protégé.

Christened The Return”, Reggae Sumfest rhythms will rock Montego Bay with its All White Blitz party; Sound System Explosion; Beach Party; and main concert events. Tommy Lee Sparta, Cyptian, Tanya Stephens, Romain Virgo, Morgan Heritage, and more stars are set to mesmerise.

The week of activities kicks off with a family fun day, a street dance, two nights of parties and a global sound clash leading up to the final nights of musical concerts. The non-stop high energetic performances will be experienced on the nights of July 21 and July 22, 2023.

The 2023 Grammy Award winner for Best Reggae Album, Kabaka Pyramid, will headline the show. He will perform Youth Dem Cold” singer Richie Spice, Gyptian, an artiste who spent 15 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 with his single “Hold Yuh,” Chronic Law and Morgan Heritage, among other vibrant performers.

Further, the parties and events such as Global Sound Clash on July 20; Blitz, an all-black affair on July 19, an All-White Party at Pier 1’s pulsating picturesque waterfront bar in Montego Bay on July 18, and a free Street Dance party with a ‘dancehall fashion’ dress code and lineup of talented DJ’s on July 17 will return on the shores. 

Other exciting activities will be included in a free Family Funday Community Fest on July 16. It will provide rides, games and entertainment for the family at the Catherine Hall Stadium in Montego Bay.
