Belize: Prime Minister of Belize Jhonny Briceño gives new year message for the people of Belize.
PM started with his notes that “My fellow Belizians 2020 will soon end we are ready to welcome 2021.
Pm said that as a nation if we look back to 2020, we have very mixed feelings, it was the year in which faced floods and volcanoes, which caused damage to the $100 million Belizian economy.
People lost their property, farmers lost their crops and livestock, and the public lost their infrastructure.
“COVID19 seemed to be another setback for the country; over 10 thousand people have been tested for this deadly virus.About 45 thousands of persons lost their jobs, and many businesses closed, as the measures have been taken to fight against the coronavirus.” he said.
Prime minister said that this coronavirus had changed our living styles, although 2020 was not as bad, many of the countries help us into the fight against this virus.
He added that ” our frontline workers are real heroes for us, because of the lockdown and other measures many small businesses shut down.

Вrісеnо ехрlаіnеd thаt thе Веlіzеаn есоnоmу іѕ ехресtеd tо ѕhrіnk bу 15% іn 2020, thе оvеrаll fіѕсаl dеfісіt іѕ 12% оf GDР, аnd thе dеbt tо GDР rаtіо wіll іnсrеаѕе tо 133% wіth thе ассерtаblе ѕtаndаrd bеіng 60%.
