Belize Govt gets 15,000 COVID-19 Antigen from Taiwan

Belize: The Ministry of Health and Wellness of Belize received a donation of 15,000 COVID-19 Antigen rapid tests in a small ceremony hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan). 

Dr. Deysi Mendez, Chief Executive Officer, accepted the donation on behalf of the Ministry from H.E. Remus Li-Kuo Chen, Ambassador of Taiwan to Belize. Dr. Mendez expressed gratitude for the donation and the continued care shown to Belize by the Government and people of the Republic of China (Taiwan), especially in the overall COVID-19 response.

ForaCare, a Taiwanese company, the tests were co-developed and indicated that results could be determined in as little as 15 minutes. The total value of the donation is approximately BZ$300,000.

The donation will help enhance the laboratory’s capacity and support in providing a timely response to affected persons.

Belize has records 34 New Confirmed Cases of coronavirus with 51 new recoveries and 3 New Deaths Reported in the last 24 hours.

Health Ministry of Belize appeals to people to wear a face mask properly, maintain consistent physical distancing, avoid social gatherings, and wash and sanitize hands often.

 British High Commissioner to Belize, Claire Evans, made a courtesy call visit to the Minister of Health and Wellness Hon, Michel Chebat. They spoke on several health topics and future cooperation of mutual benefit for both countries.
