Belize: A shocking incident has been reported in Belize where a 34-year-old woman named as Evelin Azucena Garcia Zuniga died after being Stung by a Bee.
The incident took place as the woman was relaxing and lying in a hammock when she was stung by a bee.
According to police reports, she began gasping for air and behaving erratically. She was taken to the Western Regional Hospital, immediately where she was declared dead at 11:39 am on Sunday.
As per the family of Women, they believe she was allergic to the insect because she had been stung before and developed difficulty breathing.
“She started vomiting after she was stung by a bee, and she got fainted”, the family members of the woman informed. Notably, Her husband, Carlos Heron, was with her at the time of the incident.
According to the CDC, in between the years 2001 and 2017, more than 1,000 people have died from bee stings. In 2001, a total of 43 people died.
By 2017, the number had more than doubled to 89, and the experts have stated that the people who die from stings are usually are allergic to the poison released by the insect and go into anaphylaxis.
Reactions of Bee stings-
Allergic reactions from bee stings are typically more severe in adults rather than in children. In many cases, there is only pain and swelling at the sting site.
But in rare cases, a life-threatening allergic reaction can cause health issues such as – difficulty breathing, tongue swelling, nausea and unconsciousness. This might need emergency medical attention.
For mild to moderate reactions, treatment involves:
Creams to the impacted area can help to reduce discomfort, while severe reactions might need adrenaline.
Additionally, according to the report, there are more than 800 wild bee species within Europe, 7 of which are listed by the – International Union for Conservation of Nature – IUCN as critically endangered. A further 46 are endangered, 24 are vulnerable, and 101 are near-threatened.
