Barbados: Barbados and the Republic of Rwanda have signed a Cooperation Agreement following a bilateral meeting between officials of both Governments on Saturday, April 16, 2022.
The signing of the agreement was held after the Official Visit of the President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame to Barbados on Friday, April 15, 2022.
The signing ceremony was held at Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre after both the delegations commenced the diplomatic meeting to exchange each other’s views on various matters of concern, such as bilateral and multilateral exchanges.
As part of President Kagame’s Official Visit itinerary, Barbados and the Republic of Rwanda held bilateral talks at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.
While expressing pleasure at the meeting, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley noted, “It was a distinct honour to welcome Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, to Ilaro Court, the official residence of the Prime Minister of Barbados where we were able to have a very cordial face to face meeting.”
She further stated that a very long time ago, President Kagame tried his hand at Cricket, and he would like to develop the sport in Rwanda.
Barbados enjoys more than 100 years of cricket administration which Rwanda can tap into and get its development of Cricket going.
” I am certain President Kagame was pleased to be able to interact with legends like Sir Gary Sobers, Sir Wesley “Wes” Hall, Sir Gordon Greenidge, Joel Garner, President of the Cricket Legends, Ian Bradshaw, and the President of the Barbados Cricket Association, Mr Conde Riley,” underscored PM Mottley.
Further, On Friday, April 15, 2022, President of the Republic of Rwanda Paul Kagame welcomed the authorities of Barbados at the Grantley Adams International Airport. The officials such as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Dr Jerome X Walcott and Member of Parliament for St Michael South Kiek Humphrey led the welcome party for the President of the Republic of Rwanda.
