The Best dos Santos Public Health Laboratory, Barbados have recorded 127 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday. The recent spike in the number of Covid-19 patients came after lab authorities had conducted 1,206 tests on December 7.

Out of 127, Fifty-seven and 70 are females who were recently diagnosed with Covid-19. Among whom, 22 people are those who are under the age of 18 and 105 are those who are 18 years and older.

The number of persons in isolation is 293, while those in home isolation is 2,062.

Meanwhile, the number of people who succumbed to the Covid-19 is four.
The number of deceased includes a 61-year old woman who passed away due to the viral illness at the Harrison’s Point Isolation Facility, along with the three men aged 61,87 and 93, who succumbed to the viral disease at the Harrison’s Emergency Department and the Blackman and Gollop Isolation Facility. They all were unvaccinated.

As of December 7, There were overall 244 deaths from the deadly virus.

Since February last year, the public health laboratory has carried out 446,403 tests and recorded 26,433 cases -12,598 males and 13,835 females – of COVID-19.

While focusing on the number of people most affected, those still do not adhere to the need to get vaccinated.

Meanwhile, the Government of Barbados is getting very keen on the persons arriving in Barbados or planning a trip. The government is advising people to wear facial masks. Persons will have to get their temperature check upon arrival.

In moving around Barbados, people are asked to follow social distancing guidelines. Making the masks mandatory in all public places, including out of doors unless working out.

Regular washing of hands is encouraged, and clean hands using sanitizers on entering a building.

The Barbadian authorities will seek to prosecute people who breach Covid-19 protocols, including those who break quarantine protocols, resulting in fine or imprisonment.
