Barbados: PM Mia Mottley tests COVID positive, under stable condition
Barbados: As the COVID-19 wave is still standing in Barbados, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has turned out positive against the COVID-19 pandemic on Monday, June 20, 2022.
Reportedly, the government of Barbados stated that the situation of Prime Minister Mia Mottley is stable as she is showing mild symptoms. Her health condition is doing well.
As per the advice of the doctors, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley will remain at home until she gets recovers from the COVID-19 infection. Till she gets recovered, Deputy Prime Minister Santia Bradshaw will be performed as a Prime Minister during this period.
COVID-19 in Barbados:
On Sunday, June 19, 2022, a total of 61 new cases of the COVID-19 pandemic out of the 312 samples that had been processed by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory. Out of the total cases, 25 males and 26 females were recorded against the novel coronavirus.
Out of the total positive and confirmed cases, 12 people were under the age of 18 and 39 were 18 years and older.
As per the statistics, the number of people who were present in isolation facilities was 24; on the other hand, a total of 993 were present in home isolation.
On June 19, 2022, there were 472 people lost their lives due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The public health laboratory of Barbados has also conducted 697,788 tests since February 2020 and recorded 82,950 COVID-19 cases (37,794 males and 45,156 females).
Under the National Vaccination Programme of Barbados for COVID-19, a total of 162,534 people have received the first dose against the COVID-19 pandemic (71.2 per cent of the eligible population of the total population of Barbados). The total number of fully vaccinated persons is 153,257 (56.5 per cent of the total people of Barbados or 67.1 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represented those persons who are 12 years and older.
