Barbados: From his days at St Stephen’s Primary School, Jaidan Jordan enjoyed playing his favourite sport of cricket and his love for the game saw him represent the school in the Herman Griffith Primary School Cricket tournament which he did for two years.

While playing in the Herman Griffith tournament, Jaidan assisted his team to the finals which was the first time the school reached that stage of the game.

The young cricket lover spent a lot of time watching matches and he was always ready to play the game, so when he entered Alexandra School, he immediately joined the school’s cricket team and he has played under-15 and intermediate cricket for the school.

Jaidan is the current under-15 captain and opening batsman of his school team. One of his best knocks for his school team was 87 runs against Coleridge & Parry’ team and last year he received the ‘Best Cricketer of the year’ award at his school.

Jaidan also plays for Carlton Cricket Club and he was called to the Sir Everton Weekes Centre of of Excellence in 2020. Just recently he captained the ‘Mayers’ Magicians’ team which won the first under-15 Royals T10 Cricket Cup.

He won “Man of the Match in both games in that tournament and was also awarded ‘Most Runs’ and ‘Best Fielder’ in the series.

Jaidan who aspires to be a professional cricketer, practices twice a week at school and with the Centre of Excellence and once a week with his personal coach Shirley Clarke.

He has his eyes on playing for Barbados and the West Indies but today he is concentrating on balancing school and cricket which at time is a little challenging for the young man who says that he is ‘at home on the cricket pitch’.

Besides cricket Jaidan enjoys going to horse racing with his dad when he gets the chance and he does a little fishing as a hobby. He likes to cook which he learned with the guidance of his grand mother and he tells us that, “My grandmother taught me to cook from the time I was really little. We had a bench in the kitchen so I could reach the counter top. I don’t really have a favourite dish. I like baking cakes and doing bake chicken with my secret sauce”.
